PKR gains 3 paisa against USD

October 02, 2026 (MLN):The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 3.08 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank market on Friday, settling at PKR 277.07 per dollar compared to the previous close of PKR 277.10.

During the trading session, the rupee recorded a high bid of PKR 277.10 and a low ask of PKR 277.05.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the US dollar at PKR 277.50 for buying and PKR 280.00 for selling.

Against other major currencies, the local currency posted mixed movements. It gained Rs1.23 or 0.39% against the euro, closing at PKR 311.61 compared to PKR 312.83 in the previous session.

The rupee also strengthened by 45.64 paisa or 0.12% against the British pound, settling at PKR 365.86 from PKR 366.32 a day earlier.

However, the local currency lost Rs2.76 or 0.83% against the Swiss franc, closing at PKR 334.32.

Against the Japanese yen, the rupee depreciated by 0.80 paisa or 0.46%, ending the session at PKR 1.7575 compared to PKR 1.7495 in the preceding session.

The rupee edged up by 0.46 paisa against the Chinese yuan, with the exchange rate reported at PKR 41.33. It also gained 0.23 paisa against the Saudi riyal to close at PKR 73.80.

Meanwhile, the local currency appreciated by 0.43 paisa or 0.01% against the UAE dirham, settling at PKR 75.44.

On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has gained Rs1.09 or 0.39% against the US dollar. Its appreciation since the start of the calendar year stands at Rs3.05 or 1.10%.

In the money market, the benchmark six-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates (KIBOR) rose by 9 basis points, with the bid rate reaching 12.10% and the offer rate standing at 12.35%.
