Government decides to remove Deputy Governors SBP: Fawad Chaudhry

October 4, 2018 (MLN): Deputy Governors of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Mr. Jameel Ahmed and Mr. Shamsul Hasan have been dismissed from their positions.

Mr. Jameel Ahmed was appointed as Deputy Governor by the Federal Government on April 11, 2017 for a period of three years, whereas Mr. Shamsul Hasan was appointed by the Government of Pakistan on December 22, 2017 for the same duration. Mr. Shams assumed his responsibilities from February 12, 2018.

Mr. Jameel has been associated with SBP since 1991. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Governor, he was serving as Executive Director, Banking Supervision Group and Financial Stability.
