FBR seeks cooperation of banks in identifying benami accounts

July 22, 2019: Chairman FBR Shabbar Zaidi has sought the cooperation of banks in identifying the benami accounts.

In a statement today, he said FBR wants the banks to seek details of benami accounts of their account holders.

He further stated that FBR does not want to directly contact the account holders in order to keep intact the confidence of the people on the tax collection body.

While he continues to stress upon the importance of cooperation by all the banks to identify benami accounts, he assured that the information regarding benami accounts will be kept secret. 

He said the banks have been requested to submit details of benami accounts in fifteen days' time.
