Exports from Pakistan rise by nearly 10% MoM during December

January 15, 2021 (MLN): Exports from Pakistan during the month of December 2020 amounted to Rs. 378,792 million, showing an increase of 9.59% as compared to Rs. 345,640 million in November 2020 and 22.97% as compared to Rs. 308,032 million during December 2019.

According to the provisional figures compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in terms of US dollars, the exports in December 2020 were $2,366 million i.e. higher by 8.98% as compared to $2,171 million in November, 2020 and 19.01% as compared to $1,988 million in December 2019.

Exports during July – December 2020 totaled Rs. 1,978,764 million as against Rs. 1,803,776 million during the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 9.70%.

In terms of US dollars, the exports during July – December 2020 totaled $12,110 million against $11,524 million during the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 5.09%.

Main commodities of exports during December 2020 were Knitwear (Rs. 54,761 million), Readymade garments (Rs. 45,609 million), Bed wear (Rs. 40,981 million), Rice others (Rs. 26,658 million), Cotton cloth (Rs. 25,907 million), Cotton Yarn (Rs. 15,396 million), Fruits (Rs. 13,504 million), Towels (Rs.13,288 million), Madeup articles (excl. towels & bedwear) (Rs.11,547 million) and Basmati rice (Rs. 10,596 million).
