ECNEC okays modified PC-1 for ML-1 project

November 2, 2022 (MLN): The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) has accepted the modified PC-1 for the up-gradation of Pakistan railways' existing Main Line-1 project at a cost of more than $9.85 billion.

However, it will be subject to the recommendation of cost, technical details, and preferably an equity participation financial model.

Main Line -1 starts from Karachi, passes through Kotri, Hyderabad, Rohri, Multan, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, and terminates at Peshawar.

The ECNEC also approved the Karachi Circular Railway Project at a cost of Rs292.4bn rupees with a foreign share of Rs263.15bn.

The ECNEC further gave approval to the establishment of the 48 MW Shounter Hydropower Project in district Neelum.
