ECC likely to approve Fertilizer Subsidy Package

March 16, 2022 (MLN): The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, in its meeting which is scheduled to be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022, is likely to approve the Fertilizer subsidy package for the farmers for Kharif Crops 2022.

Last week, a high-level fertilizer review meeting was held to discuss the issues faced by farmers, domestic production of the input, as well as the demand for fertilizer during the Kharif season.

The meeting will be chaired by Shaukat Tarin, Minister for Finance and Revenue.

Besides, the other important agendas for this meeting comprised of the following points:

Extension of date for the subsidy to farmers of Sindh and Balochistan province under Prime Minister’s package for Agriculture in FY21.
Supplementary grant for Export Development Fund (EDF)
Fixation of public wheat procurement targets of Sindh and Balochistan along with cash credit limits
