According to the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee data, cotton picking has significantly increased in Punjab. The report highlights that due to decent production, better yields are being harvested from the region.
Pest infestation is being managed through various chemistries and overall no significant losses have been reported.
However, in southern districts of Sindh i.e. Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Tando Muhammad khan, Badin, Tando Allah Yar and Hyderabad, the crop is being terminated after fifth and sixth picking. The quality of crop in the region was heavily affected by incidents of pink boll worm and heavy rains.
Prices of seed cotton remained between 2700-3300 per 40 kilograms.
