Completely Knock Down (CKD) imports during April surge by 85.5 percent

According to the latest data released by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), total imports of transport during the month of April clocked in at $265.290 million; posting a growth of 1.471 percent from March’s imports of $261.442 million.

Compared to that, year on year growth in the Vehicle imports also went up by more than 23.45 percent during the month of April. The total imports during the month of April, 2018 against April, 2017 grew by $50.410 million.

Transport group imports mainly divided in to three major groups i.e. Road Motor Vehicles, Aircrafts, Ships and Boats and other transport Equipment.

The major chunk of imports under the Transport category was mainly from the Road Motor Vehicle which contributed a total of 75.17 percent of the entire imports. Total Road Motor Vehicle’s imports during the month of March, 2018 clocked in by $199.436 million going up from $140.826 million same month last year; an year on year increase of 41.26 percent. The Road Motor Vehicle includes Completely Built Units (CBU)s, Completely Knock Down (CKD), parts and other items.

Year on year import of CBUs during the month of April, 2018 fell by 6.92 percent whereas, CKD imports surged by 85.5 percent.

SBP data reveals the second major chunk of imports under the Transport head was mainly from the Aircrafts, Ships and Boats which contributed a total of 22.79 percent of the entire imports. Total Aircrafts, Ships and Boats imports during the month of March, 2018 clocked in by $60.464 million increase from $41.910 million same month last year.

Furthermore, month on month imports in Aircraft, ships and Boats category went up by 29.97 percent during April, 2018 and other transport equipment imports went down by 28.67 percent.

Total other transport Equipment’s imports clocked in at $5.389 million during the month of April, 2018.
