April 22, 2020 (MLN): The local bourse witnessed a volatile trading session today. The markets remained under pressure amid crash in oil prices, uncovering the deep economic downturn caused by coronavirus. However, the KSE-100 Index concluded the session on the positive side by gaining 41 points to 32,464-level.

The Index traded in a range of 743.85 points or 2.29 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 32,636.05 and a low of 31,892.20.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 54 closed up 35 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 177.64 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 74 points, Commercial Banks with 42 points, Miscellaneous with 7 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 6 points and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 6 points.

The most points added to the index was by MCB which contributed 40 points followed by LUCK with 27 points, BAHL with 16 points, FFC with 14 points and KAPCO with 13 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 55 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 33 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 23 points, Tobacco with 7 points and Automobile Assembler with 5 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HBL which stripped the index of 44 points followed by DAWH with 36 points, HUBC with 34 points, PPL with 29 points and ENGRO with 22 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 99.28 Million to 239.87 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.2.02 Billion.

Total companies traded were 336 compared to 339 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 172 closed up, 136 closed down while 28 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 34,875 to 98,198.

Value Traded decreased by 5.10 Billion to Rs.10.29 Billion
