September 22, 2020 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index remained bearish today as it ended the session by losing another 345 points to settle at 41,828 points.

The Market remained volatile as investors chose to cover their positions and opted for profit-taking due to ongoing rollover week a report by Ismail Iqbal Securities stated.

Moreover, E&Ps closed in red as international crude oil price fell 2% at USD 41.58 per bbl led by increasing coronavirus cases in many countries, it added.

The Index remained negative throughout the session touching an intraday low of 41,675.54.

Of the 99 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 27 closed up 72 closed down, while 0 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 249.98 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 99 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 77 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 63 points, Fertilizer with 53 points and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 31 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HUBC which stripped the index of 43 points followed by PPL with 30 points, ENGRO with 28 points, HBL with 27 points and UBL with 22 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 28 points, Cement with 12 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 11 points, Textile Spinning with 2 points and Real Estate Investment Trust with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by DAWH which contributed 31 points followed by MUREB with 10 points, CHCC with 6 points, MLCF with 6 points and DGKC with 5 points.

All Share Volume increased by 7.34 Million to 441.29 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.60.54 Billion.

Total companies traded were 428 compared to 408 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 121 closed up, 288 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 14,845 to 127,756.

Value Traded increased by 1.64 Billion to Rs.12.96 Billion
