June 21, 2023 (MLN): China remained the top source of imports for Pakistan during July-May FY23 with an amount of $9.038 billion followed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar with $3.106bn and 3.521bn respectively.
According to the latest figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the total imports from China during the month of May decreased by 47.36% YoY to $694.71 million, as compared to $1.32billion recorded in the corresponding month of last year.

Moreover, Pakistan imported goods worth $309.12m from Saudi Arabia as compared to the imports of $3.10bn recorded during Jul-May FY23, depicting a decline of 17.74% YoY.

Qatar was the third on the list as Pakistan imported products worth $298.73 from the country. This figure was up by 68.43% from the imports of $177.36m in the same period last year.
United Arab Emirates Dubai (UAE) was the fourth in line as imports came from the region during the aforementioned period was $285.14m, depicting a significant decline of 47.18% YoY and 20.50% MoM.
Among other countries, Pakistan’s imports from Indonesia stood at $220.53m, marking a decrease of 30.25% YoY, while imports from the United States of America (USA) decreased by 14.80% YoY to $202.01m.
The imports from Singapore stood at $168.47 million, down by 27.53% MoM and 9.99% YoY.
Moreover, total imports from Oman depicted a significant decline of 21.26% YoY and an increase of 2.45x MoM to $149.39m.
