Car sales rise 24% in Sep

October 10, 2024 (MLN): The sales of cars, including LCVs, vans, and jeeps, in Pakistan increased by 23.9% in September 2024, clocking in at 10,297 units compared to 8,312 units recorded in the same month of last year, the latest data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) showed today.

Similarly, on a month-on-month basis, auto sales have increased by 18.4% compared to the 8,699 cars sold in August 2024.

Cumulatively, in 3MFY25, sales clocked in at 27,585 units, around 31.5% higher compared to 20,983 units sold in 3MFY24.

Breaking up the data, during the review month, passenger car sales increased by 21.6% to 7,794 units compared to 6,410 units recorded in the same month of last year

The total production of passenger cars was recorded at 9,579 units in September, up 52.9% compared to 6,264 units made in the same month of last year.

The data released by PAMA further showed that the maximum number of passenger car sales was made within the ‘1300cc and Above’ category at 3,792 units in September 2024.

Within this category, Toyota (Corolla & Yaris) recorded the highest sales at 1,883 units, followed by Honda Cars (Civic & City) with sales of 1,143 units, Suzuki Swift with 608 units, and Hyundai Elantra with 100 units.

The second highest number of sales was made within the ‘Below 1000cc’ category at 3,761 units during the review month.

Suzuki Alto led sales with 3,146 units in this category, with the Suzuki Bolan following with 615 units.

Moreover, the '1000 cc' segment witnessed a sale of 241 units in September 2024.

In this category, Suzuki WagonR recorded the highest sales at 182 units, followed by Suzuki Cultus with sales of 59 units.
