Bank deposits decrease by nearly 2% to Rs30tr in Feb

April 03, 2025 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved down by 1.8% to Rs30.46 trillion in February compared to Rs31tr by the end of last month.

When compared to the same month of last year, banks' deposits have risen by 9.2%, compared to Rs27.89tr held in February 2024, data released by the central bank showed.

Total advances decreased by 5.1% to Rs13.97tr compared to Rs14.73tr a month ago. Meanwhile, advances increased by 15.8% from their value of Rs12.06tr from a year ago.

Advances to Deposit Ratios (ADR) stood at 45.9% showing a decrease of 163 basis points on a monthly basis and an increase of 262 bps on a yearly basis.

Total investments increased by 4.0% to Rs31.21tr from last month. While compared to last year, investments rose 22.7%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 564bps to 102.5% compared to last month and increased by 1122 bps when compared to a year ago.
