Amr Ahmed takes on additional role as Managing Director PARCO

August 28, 2023 (MLN): The federal government has approved the additional charge of the post of Managing Director, Pak Arab Refinery Company Limited (PARCO), Petroleum Division to Mr Amr Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer, Pak Arab Pipeline Company Limited (PAPCO), Petroleum Division in addition to his own duties.

He is appointed for a period of six months or till the appointment of the new Managing Director, PARCO whichever is earlier, with effect from August 26, 2023, and until further orders.

Mr. Amr Ahmed is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in the energy and petroleum sectors. 

Prior to his current position, Mr Ahmed held the position of Vice President at Mubadala for an impressive span of eight years from December 2012 to December 2020. During this time, he was responsible for overseeing LNG, Gas, and Power opportunities, leading activities such as origination, concept-building, evaluation, offer negotiations, and financial closing.

His career journey also includes a significant role as Director of Sales Asia Oil & Gas at Siemens Energy, spanning from April 2011 to December 2012. In this capacity, he demonstrated his expertise in managing sales of comprehensive oil and gas process automation solutions, products, and services across Asia.

His primary focus regions were India, ASEAN, Korea, and Japan, where he targeted both EPCs and end-users, leveraging Siemens' local presence to deliver complex projects.

From September 2007 to March 2011, Mr. Ahmed took on the role of GM Distribution at Shell. During his three-year and seven-month tenure, he led the charge in building, planning, and implementing a forward-looking Fuels Supply Chain.

Furthermore, he held positions as Shell's nominated Director on Pakistan Refinery Ltd. and as Shareholder Representative on JIMCO JV during this period.

Mr Ahmed's career foundation was established during his time at National Power, where he accumulated valuable experience over five years from 1995 to 2000.

In terms of education, Mr Amr Ahmed holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, where he completed his studies in 1989. He also pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Hull.
