ADB delegation inspects projects under PICP

January 14, 2025 (MLN): A delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) visited the city on Tuesday to inspect various projects under the Punjab Inclusive Cities Program (PICP).

The delegation was led by Urban Development Specialists Lara Aryan and Brian Apta, according to the press release issued today.

During the briefing, Commissioner Sahiwal, Shoaib Iqbal Syed, informed that 80% of the projects under the program had been completed, and assured that the remaining projects would be finished within the designated time frame.

After completion of the projects, the needs of water and sewerage systems for the next 30 years in the city would be fulfilled, he added.

The commissioner mentioned that disposal stations were being built in the city as part of the program.

Chief Engineer Muhammad Tahir added that a landfill site would also be established under the program.

He highlighted that the treatment of sewage water would enable irrigation for over 30,000 acres in the district.

Lara Aryan stated that the program's goal was to offer modern facilities to the people.
