Workers’ Remittances near $3.6bn in December

January 09, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan received workers' remittances of $3.59
billion in December 2025, up by 12.6% from November's $3.188bn, according to
the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
This marks a positive turnaround after the previous month's decline, with remittances showing steady growth as the country continues to benefit from its overseas workforce.
On a yearly basis, it increased by 16.5% from $3.08 bn in the same month last year

On a cumulative basis, in 6MFY26, the total remittances stood at $19.74bn as compared to $17.84bn worth of inflows received in 6MFY25, depicting a rise of 10.65%.

Country-wise breakdown shows that Saudi Arabia
remained the largest contributor to workers' remittances in December 2025.
Inflows from the Kingdom amounted to $813.06m, representing an increase
of 7.97% MoM, reinforcing the Kingdom's position as Pakistan's top remittance
source.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) followed as the second-largest source, contributing $726.08m in December. This marked a strong 7.56% increase compared to the previous month.
Within the UAE,
remittances from Dubai stood at $565.70m, while Abu Dhabi
contributed $130.13m.
Inflows from the United Kingdom (U.K.) continued their
robust performance, reaching $559.74 million, representing a significant 16.36%
jump compared to November 2025 and a 22.51% increase year-on-year, maintaining
the U.K.'s position as the third-largest remittance corridor.
The United States (USA) saw a positive reversal in
trend, with inflows reaching $301.68m, increasing by 8.87% MoM after the previous month's decline.
Remittances from European Union (EU) countries continued
their impressive trajectory, with inflows reaching $499.27 million in December
2025, up 19.83% from November and 38.57% higher compared to the same period
last year.
Among EU member states, Italy
was the largest contributor with $149.20m, followed by Spain at $84.12m
and Germany at $75.75m. Other notable EU contributors included France
($59.16m), Greece ($56.90m), and Ireland ($23.99m).
Other GCC countries (excluding Saudi Arabia and UAE)
contributed $333.23 million, showing a substantial increase of 11.52% on a
monthly basis and 7.50% year-on-year. Key contributors within this group
included Qatar ($99.97m), Oman ($105.30m), Bahrain ($50.52m), and Kuwait
($77.43m).
Malaysia sent $13.41m, up 3.62% from the previous month, while Norway contributed $12.87m, showing a 24.06% monthly increase. Australia remitted $113.54m, up 32.52% MoM, which marks one of the strongest growth rates among major corridors.
