Workers’ Remittances rises to $3.8bn in March 2026

April 8, 2026 (MLN):  Pakistan received workers' remittances of $3.83bn in March 2026, up 16.5% from February's $3.29bn, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

On yearly basis, it fell 5% from $4.05bn in March 2025.


On a cumulative basis, in 9MFY26, total remittances came in at $30.32bn as it continued the upward trajectory seen throughout the fiscal year.


In a notable shift, Saudi Arabia reclaimed the top position as the largest contributor to workers' remittances in March 2026, with inflows totalling $918.40m, up 34% from February's $685.51m, but lower 7% from $985m in march 2025.

The UAE slipped to second place, with inflows of $823.67m, up 18.3% month-on-month from $696.22m in February 2026, but slightly lower around 2% from $841.9m in March 2025

Within the UAE, Dubai contributed $591.00m, Abu Dhabi $202.94m, Sharjah $12.50m, and other emirates $17.22m.

The United Kingdom (UK) remained the third-largest source, contributing $587.27m, up from February's $532.11m, sustaining its position as a major remittance corridor, but it fell 14% from $638.8m in march 2025.

Remittances from the United States (USA) stood at $359.34m, up from $319.45m in the previous month, marking a notable month-on-month improvement, however on yearly basis it fell 14% from $420.1m.

Workers' remittances from European Union (EU) countries reached $413.78m, up from February's $395.47m. Among EU member states, Italy led with $121.79m, followed by Spain $72.31m, Germany $65.17m, France $44.81m, Greece $40.82m, Ireland $23.00m, Belgium $17.42m, Sweden $10.78m, Denmark $8.19m, and Netherlands $9.50m.

Other GCC countries (excluding Saudi Arabia and UAE) contributed $366.66m, higher than the previous month. Key contributors included Oman $115.78m, Qatar $110.16m, Kuwait $83.85m, and Bahrain $56.88m.

Among other notable countries, Australia sent $105.42m, Canada $80.75m, South Africa $24.62m, Malaysia $17.01m, Norway $13.42m, South Korea $8.36m, Japan $6.74m, Switzerland $4.41m, and other countries contributed $101.59m.
