October 03, 2025 (MLN): The Government of Sindh has enforced a new traffic fine schedule with penalties soaring up to Rs100,000, alongside a Demerit Points system aimed at tightening road discipline across the province.

The revised penalties, notified under Section 121-A of the Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965, came into effect on October 1, 2025.

Both moving and parking violations now carry significantly higher fines, with repeat offenders and heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) facing the steepest penalties.

Under the new schedule, driving the wrong way on a one-way street will cost Rs25,000 for motorcycles, Rs30,000 for cars/jeeps, and as high as Rs100,000 for HTVs, along with eight Demerit Points.

Speeding violations incur fines of Rs5,000 for motorcycles, Rs10,000 for cars/jeeps, and Rs20,000 for HTVs.

Driving without a license can result in penalties up to Rs50,000, while operating an unregistered HTV carries a fine of Rs100,000.

Other major violations include reckless driving (up to Rs25,000), tinted windows beyond 50% (Rs25,000), and illegal stunts such as one-wheeling or drifting (up to Rs50,000).

Violating traffic signals or disobeying stop signs will attract fines of Rs5,000 for motorcycles and Rs20,000 for HTVs.

Parking violations have also been tightened, with penalties of Rs2,000 for motorcycles and Rs20,000 for HTVs for parking on sidewalks, bus stops, or no-parking zones, each attracting two Demerit Points.

Additional charges include towing fees (Rs1,000 for motorcycles, Rs4,000 for HTVs), clamp release charges (Rs500–1,000), and daily impound yard parking fees (Rs500–1,000).

The Transport & Mass Transit Department emphasized that the revised penalties are aimed at promoting safer roads and stricter compliance with traffic laws.
