Pakistan-China ties to deepen ahead of PM’s August visit

June 24, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan-China relations are set to deepen further as both countries gear up for Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to China at the end of August 2025.

Chinese Ambassador His Excellency Jiang Zaidong met with the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional developments.

The Prime Minister extended best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, and conveyed his support for the successful conduct of the upcoming SCO Summit.

He also noted the ongoing consultations between the two sides regarding his participation in the summit, as per the press release issued.

Outlining the "All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership" between Pakistan and China, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s full commitment to the successful implementation of ongoing CPEC projects.

He emphasized key initiatives including ML-I, KKH, and the operationalization of Gwadar Port, along with enhanced cooperation in agriculture, industry, and IT.

The Prime Minister expressed heartfelt appreciation for China’s financial and economic support, which has played a crucial role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and improving its macroeconomic outlook.

He underscored its importance for the government’s socio-economic development agenda.

Both sides also discussed regional security, particularly the recent developments in the Iran-Israel conflict.

The Chinese Ambassador commended Pakistan’s active and constructive role on all diplomatic forums, including the United Nations Security Council, in advocating for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong briefed the Prime Minister on various aspects of bilateral cooperation and confirmed that preparations have already begun to ensure the success of the Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit to China.
