Pakistan unveiled digital land, passport services for UK diaspora

August 19, 2025 (MLN): The Government has introduced two major digital initiatives at its High Commission in London, aiming to streamline property and passport services for its diaspora community in the United Kingdom.

The "Provision of Land Record Services" and the "One Window Passport Processing System" were inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, fulfilling a commitment made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Overseas Pakistanis Convention in April.

The land record platform developed by the Punjab Land Revenue Authority in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, allows British Pakistanis to remotely access and manage property records in Punjab.

Services including online sale deeds, Fard (Record of Rights), e-Girdawari, mutation entries and document attestation are secured through blockchain technology to ensure transparency and prevent fraud.

A dedicated desk at the High Commission will oversee the pilot phase before expansion to other Pakistani consulates across the UK.

Concurrently, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports launched the One Window Passport Processing System, which reduces application time to around 10 minutes by consolidating multiple steps into a single counter.

The system aims to cut congestion, enhance transparency, and improve convenience for applicants.

Dar called the initiatives a digital leap towards safeguarding diaspora rights and fostering investment, commending the collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Punjab Land Revenue Authority, NADRA, and the Pakistan High Commission in London.
