September 22, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan is participating in the segment of the 80th
Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, with Prime
Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif leading the delegation.
He will be joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign
Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, along with other ministers and senior officials.
According to the Foreign Office, the prime minister’s
address to the General Assembly will call on the international community to
address long-standing issues of occupation and denial of self-determination in
Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine.
He is expected to
particularly highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and urge decisive global
action to end the suffering of Palestinians.
The prime minister will also present Pakistan’s stance on
key international challenges, including climate change, terrorism,
Islamophobia, regional security, and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the session, he will attend meetings of
the UN Security Council, the Global Development Initiative (GDI), and a Special
High-Level Event on Climate Action.
In addition, he will take part in a meeting of select
Islamic leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss regional and
international peace and security.
Bilateral engagements with world leaders and senior UN
officials are also planned to explore issues of mutual concern.
The Foreign Office emphasized that Pakistan’s participation
in this annual gathering of global leaders emphasizes its strong commitment to
multilateralism, the UN Charter, conflict prevention, peace promotion, and
global prosperity, while highlighting the country’s active role as a member of
the Security Council.
