PSX Closing Bell: The Tide Turns Red

September 12, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 154,439.68, showing a decrease of 1,701.56 points or 1.09%.

The index traded in a range of 2,158.78 points showing an intraday high of 156,519.13 (+377.89) and a low of 154,360.35 (-1,780.89) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 241.10 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 28 closed up, 71 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were EPCL (-3.78%), HUMNL (-3.76%), MLCF (-3.66%), PIBTL (-3.26%), and KEL (-3.25%).

On the other hand, top gainers were KTML (+7.88%), ATLH (+3.82%), NBP (+2.69%), JVDC (+2.67%), and EFUG (+1.88%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-354.82pts), FFC (-172.98pts), ENGROH (-169.95pts), HUBC (-105.86pts), and LUCK (-96.65pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were NBP (+81.94pts), KTML (+40.81pts), ATLH (+19.66pts), PIOC (+14.11pts), and JVDC (+11.50pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-520.82pts), Cement (-232.25pts), Fertilizer (-223.59pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-196.91pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-177.96pts).

While the index was supported by Automobile Assembler (+13.69pts), Property (+11.50pts), Textile Composite (+7.93pts), Engineering (+7.61pts), and Sugar & Allied Industries (+1.51pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 49,461.82 with a net loss of 544.95 points or 1.09%.

Total market volume was 987.59 million shares compared to 996.27m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs39.91 billion showing a decrease of Rs12.82bn.

There were 445,187 trades reported in 476 companies with 180 closing up, 263 closing down, and 33 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 28,812 points or 22.93% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 39,313 points or 34.15% so far this calendar year.
