PSX Closing Bell: Breaking the Ceiling

August 19, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 149,770.74, showing an increase of 1,574.32 points or 1.06%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 150,323.38 (+2,126.96) and a low of 148,293.94 (+97.52) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 340.19 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 60 closed up, 40 closed down.

Top gainers during the day were MUGHAL (+10.00%), BAHL (+9.68%), THALL (+6.24%), FCCL (+5.90%), and HALEON (+5.43%).

On the other hand, top losers were BNWM (-4.04%), YOUW (-2.46%), NPL (-2.25%), PSEL (-2.23%), and KEL (-2.14%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were BAHL (+473.57pts), UBL (+222.42pts), LUCK (+220.99pts), MEBL (+220.93pts), and ENGROH (+168.38pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were OGDC (-83.70pts), FFC (-79.78pts), HUBC (-73.86pts), SYS (-66.04pts), and PPL (-59.83pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+1142.10pts), Cement (+438.20pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+164.02pts), Pharmaceuticals (+70.76pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (+45.41pts).

While the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-186.92pts), Fertilizer (-111.46pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-93.85pts), Technology & Communication (-63.75pts), and Miscellaneous (-26.74pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 92,155.78 with a net gain of 684.90 points or 0.75%.

Total market volume was 809.08 million shares compared to 610.31m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs48.43 billion showing an increase of Rs9.26bn.

There were 438,932 trades reported in 482 companies with 264 closing up, 194 closing down, and 24 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 24,143 points or 19.22% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 34,644 points or 30.09% so far this calendar year.
