August 21, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 149,235.26, showing a decrease of 1,355.74 points or 0.90%.

The index traded in a range of 2,977.05 points showing an intraday high of 151,249.62 (+658.62) and a low of 148,272.57 (-2,318.43) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 426.27 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 19 closed up, 78 closed down, while 3 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were CHCC (-5.40%), THALL (-4.71%), NATF (-3.89%), HUMNL (-3.85%), and ISL (-3.72%).

On the other hand, top gainers were SEARL (+10.00%), PAEL (+7.16%), SRVI (+4.40%), PIBTL (+3.24%), and AICL (+2.40%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were MEBL (-191.26pts), HBL (-139.23pts), ENGROH (-111.70pts), BAHL (-100.20pts), and MCB (-97.02pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were SEARL (+96.31pts), OGDC (+58.88pts), SYS (+56.42pts), PAEL (+52.03pts), and SRVI (+43.48pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-822.29pts), Cement (-188.29pts), Fertilizer (-129.22pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-119.50pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (-67.45pts).

While the index was supported by Pharmaceuticals (+57.22pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (+52.03pts), Leather & Tanneries (+43.48pts), Insurance (+18.58pts), and Technology & Communication (+12.16pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 91,914.06 with a net loss of 768.82 points or 0.83%.

Total market volume was 1,062.99 million shares compared to 667.82m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs55.82 billion showing an increase of Rs15.10bn.

There were 502,515 trades reported in 479 companies with 130 closing up, 322 closing down, and 27 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 23,608 points or 18.79% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 34,108 points or 29.63% so far this calendar year.
