PSX Closing Bell: A Dip Before the Climb

July 23, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 139,254.35, showing a decrease of 165.26 points or 0.12%.

The index traded in a range of 1,097.12 points showing an intraday high of 140,202.17 (+782.56) and a low of 139,105.05 (-314.56) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 193.42 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 38 closed up, 60 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were PKGP (-6.80%), AGL (-3.65%), EFUG (-2.80%), SRVI (-2.45%), and ISL (-2.28%).

On the other hand, top gainers were UPFL (+10.00%), HGFA (+9.98%), HUMNL (+7.46%), GADT (+7.27%), and THALL (+3.84%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were ENGROH (-85.36pts), HBL (-57.48pts), PKGP (-52.55pts), MCB (-50.89pts), and MEBL (-30.45pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were BAHL (+82.46pts), MARI (+52.18pts), HUBC (+39.16pts), AKBL (+36.49pts), and SYS (+29.02pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-87.77pts), Commercial Banks (-64.10pts), Cement (-35.98pts), Pharmaceuticals (-29.70pts), and Fertilizer (-29.24pts).

While the index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+60.01pts), Technology & Communication (+38.37pts), Food & Personal Care Products (+35.59pts), Automobile Assembler (+22.99pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (+22.00pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 85,904.27 with a net gain of 37.49 points or 0.04%.

Total market volume was 656.64 million shares compared to 629.03m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs32.10 billion showing a decrease of Rs2.58bn.

There were 338,963 trades reported in 482 companies with 210 closing up, 243 closing down, and 29 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 13,627 points or 10.85% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 24,127 points or 20.96% so far this calendar year.
