November 11, 2025 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called on the international community to unite in advancing peace, sustainable development, and global security, stressing that collective action is essential for a stable and prosperous world.
Speaking at the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference in
Islamabad on Tuesday, the PM expressed confidence that nations can work
together to build a world grounded in enduring peace and shared prosperity.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan has consistently championed
dialogue and diplomacy as the means to achieve peace, adding that stability and
security form the cornerstone of both national and regional progress.
Amid recent global and regional tensions, Shehbaz Sharif
said the true worth of peace is realized most deeply when the world faces
persistent conflict. He noted that Pakistan, too, has endured such challenges
but has remained unwavering in its commitment to peace and stability.
Recalling recent hostilities, the Prime Minister said
Pakistan faced unprovoked aggression from its eastern neighbor in May. He
lauded the country’s armed forces for their exceptional professionalism,
readiness, and swift action, which not only thwarted the enemy’s plans but also
reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to safeguard its sovereignty and
territorial integrity.
While acknowledging military success, he emphasized that
“winning peace” through sincerity and sustained diplomatic engagement is
equally vital.
Turning to regional matters, PM stressed that a peaceful
Afghanistan is crucial for enhancing connectivity, growth and prosperity across
South and Central Asia. Pakistan, he said, continues to pursue the vision of a
peaceful neighborhood.
However, he expressed concern over the activities of
militant groups that threaten regional stability, citing recent attacks on
Pakistan’s border posts. “Our response was firm and decisive,” he remarked,
urging Afghanistan’s authorities to take concrete action against the
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist groups operating from its
soil.
Highlighting the government’s reform agenda, the Prime
Minister said Pakistan is prioritizing inclusive growth, institutional
strengthening, and the empowerment of youth and women.
He noted that the government has engaged closely with
international financial institutions and development partners to drive fiscal
reforms, build climate resilience, and attract investment.
“Our belief is simple no nation can prosper in isolation.
The destinies of nations are intertwined, and Pakistan remains committed to
multilateralism and global cooperation,” he stated.
Emphasizing the importance of governance and representation,
Shehbaz Sharif said that parliaments play an indispensable role in improving
the lives of citizens and fostering democratic progress.
Meanwhile, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani stressed that
parliaments must serve as beacons of leadership and guidance, calling for
collective thought, commitment and action through parliamentary diplomacy. He
stressed that dialogue should act as a bridge toward cooperation and shared
progress.
Addressing the climate crisis, Gillani urged parliamentary
leaders to shape legislative priorities that acknowledge the complexity of
climate change and ensure that national security remains rooted in equitable
human development.
