PKR strengthens 5 paisa against USD

June 26, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 5.44 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 283.67 per USD, compared to previous closing of 283.72.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283.7 and a low (ask) of 285.75.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 284.00 for buying and 285.75 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 3.68 rupees or 1.12% against the Euro, closing at 332.67 compared to the previous value of 328.99.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 3.67 rupees or 0.95% to 390.04 compared to 386.37 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 2.11 rupees or 0.60% against Swiss franc to close at 354.41.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 1.91 paisa or 0.98% to close the session at 1.9716 versus 1.9525 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 1.09 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.57 from 39.56.

The local currency strengthened by 1.25 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 75.64. While it rose by 1.58 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.24.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 5.33 rupees or 1.88%. While it has depreciated 5.12 rupees or 1.80% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 9bps to 10.86% and 11.11%.
