PKR inches up 3paisa,closes at 281.07 against USD

October 20, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) increased by 3.05 paisa against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.07 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.10.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.50 and a low (ask) of 282.10.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.30 for buying and 282.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 1.29 rupees or 0.39% against the Euro, closing at 327.81 compared to the previous value of 329.10.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 27.98 paisa or 0.07% to 377.08 compared to 377.36 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 1.65 rupees or 0.46% against Swiss franc to close at 354.40.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 1.34 paisa or 0.71% to close the session at 1.8647 versus 1.8781 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 1.18 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.46 from 39.45.

The local currency rose by 0.61 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.94. While it appreciated by 0.93 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.52.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 2.69 rupees or 0.96%. While it has weakened 2.52 rupees or 0.90% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 10.93% and 11.18%.
