PKR gains 2 paisa against USD

August 22, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) increased by 1.75 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.90 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.92.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283.4 and a low (ask) of 284.1.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.00 for buying and 284.20 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 1.74 rupees or 0.53% against the Euro, closing at 326.84 compared to the previous value of 328.58.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 1.81 rupees or 0.48% to 377.94 compared to 379.75 a day ago.

The local unit rose 1.97 rupees or 0.56% against Swiss franc to close at 348.20.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 1.29 paisa or 0.68% to close the session at 1.8973 versus 1.9102 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 2.22 paisa or 0.06% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.25 from 39.28.

The local currency fell by 0.73 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 75.13. While it rose by 0.27 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.75.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 1.86 rupees or 0.66%. While it has decreased 3.35 rupees or 1.19% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.79% and 11.04%.
