August 25, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan’s benchmark KSE-100 Index closed Tuesday’s trading session at 177,370.70, gaining 404.02 points or 0.23%, as selective buying in commercial banks, cement and fertilizer stocks helped the market recover despite weakness in oil exploration and technology sectors.

The index traded in a range of 1,198.56 points, hitting an intraday high of 177,775.70, up 809.02 points, while the low stood at 176,577.14, down 389.54 points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 271.87 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies, 45 closed up, 53 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were ISL (+3.68%), POWER (+3.66%), GAL (+3.38%), KTML (+2.88%), and UBL (+2.72%).

On the other hand, top losers were PGLC (-8.60%), TRG (-5.18%), SRVI (-2.87%), BNWM (-2.67%), and PSEL (-2.18%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were UBL (+374.88pts), MEBL (+127.98pts), FFC (+81.55pts), HBL (+41.96pts), and LUCK (+41.39pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were OGDC (-83.60pts), ENGROH (-64.60pts), SYS (-53.24pts), SRVI (-51.41pts), and PPL (-50.73pts).

Sector-wise, the KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+514.07pts), Cement (+138.43pts), Fertilizer (+57.78pts), Automobile Assembler (+43.50pts), and Pharmaceuticals (+24.59pts).

The buying interest came as oil prices steadied in Asian trading after falling more than 2% in the previous session, with investors assessing the potential impact of tougher US secondary sanctions aimed at increasing economic pressure on Iran. The development provided some relief to market sentiment, although uncertainty over the broader geopolitical and energy outlook kept gains in check.

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 107,716.19 with a net gain of 116.44 points or 0.11%.

Total market volume was 644.84 million shares compared to 933.52m from the previous session, while traded value was recorded at Rs31.37bn, showing a decrease of Rs12.73bn.

There were 386,972 trades reported in 499 companies, with 223 closing up, 229 closing down, and 47 remaining unchanged.
