Mari Energies picks up stakes in three OPI blocks to boost local E&P

July 10, 2025 (MLN): Mari Energies Ltd. (PSX: MARI) has signed farm-out agreements with Orient Petroleum Inc. (OPI) to acquire working interests in three oil and gas assets across Pakistan to deepen its footprint in the country’s onshore exploration sector.

Under the deals, Mari Energies will acquire a 45% working interest along with operatorship in the Marwat block in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Harnai South block in Balochistan.

The company will also take a 20% non-operating working interest in the Ratana development and production lease in Punjab.

The transactions, which remain subject to regulatory approvals, government assignments, and other customary formalities, align with Mari Energies’ goal to bolster its upstream portfolio and advance local hydrocarbon exploration efforts.

“This move demonstrates our commitment to support indigenous exploration and development activities, ultimately contributing to Pakistan’s energy security,” the company said in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Friday.
