August 5, 2025 (MLN): The government has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating the textiles and apparel sector by providing a stable policy environment and supporting value addition to boost exports.

This assurance was given by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan during a meeting with Asif Jooma, Chief Executive Officer of Lucky Core Industries, and Rizwan Afzal Chaudhry, Chairman of the Polyester Staple Fiber Manufacturers Group.

The delegation raised concerns over pressing issues affecting Pakistan’s synthetic fiber-based industry, including recent amendments to the Export Facilitation Scheme, the National Tariff Policy 2025, and the rising cost of manufacturing.

In response, the Minister expressed the government’s willingness to resolve the challenges and ensure a more competitive and export-driven industry.

Further strengthening this agenda, Minister Jam Kamal held a meeting with Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, to expand bilateral cooperation with a strong emphasis on strengthening textile industry linkages between the two countries.

Discussions focused on building partnerships in yarn, fabric, garments, and machinery to integrate into global value chains.

Pakistan highlighted its manufacturing strengths, while Bangladesh expressed interest in sourcing raw materials like limestone for textile processing.

The meeting also covered broader trade areas including agriculture, minerals, and Halal meat.

Both sides committed to easing logistics, simplifying visas, and establishing sector-specific business linkages especially in textiles to support Pakistan’s export-led growth strategy.
