Government denies rumors of fuel shortage in Pakistan

June 24, 2025 (MLN): The government has firmly denied rumors of a petroleum product shortage in Pakistan, assuring the public that adequate reserves are in place and the supply chain is functioning smoothly, according to State Minister for Railway and Finance, Bilal Azhar Kayani.
The Minister emphasized that the government is closely monitoring developments following Iran-Israel tensions to maintain stability in the energy sector.
He highlighted that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has instructed all oil marketing companies to strictly maintain mandatory reserve levels, considering the current global conditions to mitigate any potential risks.
He reassured the public that petroleum inventories are sufficient and supply operations continue smoothly across the country, according to the press release issued.
The Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Petroleum, and Ministry of Finance are actively observing the situation to ensure preparedness against any uncertainties.
Urging citizens to disregard baseless rumors, he stressed the importance of relying solely on official statements issued by government spokespersons.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring energy security and supply stability for all citizens, concluded Bilal Azhar Kayani.
