FBR clarifies RDA holders exempt from return filing, non-filer rates

September 24, 2026 (MLN): Non-residents holding a Roshan Digital Account (RDA) are not required to file a return for RDA investments and are not charged non-filer rates, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said.

The clarification followed a number of queries about investment in the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) through RDA and the repatriation of profits.

Tax will be deducted at filer rates on PSX gains and dividends, provided the investment in the PSX is made out of profit received from the RDA. Moving funds back abroad through the RDA is not taxed.

Non-residents also do not have to file an income tax return, as income (profit on debt) from the RDA is exempt.
