Foreign Investment Shows Mixed Trends as Inflows & Outflows Balance

September 15, 2025 (MLN): The Special Convertible Rupee Account (SCRA) balance showed a decrease of Rs.998.11 million during the week ending September 5, 2025, closing at Rs.29.98 billion.

According to data published by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the week marked a net selling of securities amounting to Rs.1.89 billion suggesting some investors were booking profits.

During the week, the SCRA recorded a total inflow of Rs.15.04 billion, driven by remittances, the sale of securities, and dividend payments. The breakdown is as follows:

• Inward remittances totaled Rs.3.25 billion.
• The sale of securities amounted to Rs.11.46 billion.
• Dividends received were Rs.328.14 million.

On the flip side, total outflows from the SCRA through outward remittances, the purchase of securities, and taxes were recorded at Rs.16.03 billion. The outflows were primarily made up of:

• Outward remittances: Rs.6.47 billion.
• Securities purchased: Rs.9.56 billion.
• Taxes paid: Rs.8.81 million.

The market value of investments made in various asset classes saw notable changes:

• Equity investments increased by Rs.22.82 billion, closing at Rs.716.81 billion.
• Treasury Bills (T-Bills) saw a decrease of Rs.1.75 billion, closing at Rs.43.72 billion.
• Pakistan Investment Bonds (PIBs) showed a slight increase of Rs.15.4 million, closing at Rs.18.05 billion.
