FM taps Saudi Fund ties on looming energy risks

April 14, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan reinforced its development partnership with the Saudi Fund for Development as Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met CEO Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad on the sidelines of the World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings in Washington.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb acknowledged the fund’s continued financial and technical support, highlighting its role in advancing Pakistan’s development agenda and ongoing cooperation initiatives.

The discussion also focused on the economic fallout of the Middle East conflict, particularly its implications for global energy security.The

Finance Minister expressed optimism for an early resolution, while emphasizing the importance of sustained coordination between Islamabad and Riyadh amid evolving external risks.

He also referenced his recent engagement with Saudi Arabia’s finance leadership, describing it as a signal of deepening bilateral ties.

The meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to expanding economic collaboration, with development financing and energy-linked risks emerging as key themes in the dialogue.
