August 15, 2025 (MLN): In a move to streamline the Hajj 2026 application process, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has instructed 14 designated banks to keep their relevant branches open nationwide on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

The decision, made at the request of the Ministry of Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony, aims to accommodate intending pilgrims by extending banking hours from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This special arrangement is part of ongoing efforts to ensure a seamless and accessible application process for Hajj aspirants nationwide.

The Pakistan Hajj Policy 2026, approved by the federal cabinet, outlines key changes for the upcoming pilgrimage season.

The policy focuses on transparency, improved service delivery, and digitization of the process.

A total quota of 179,210 pilgrims has been allocated for Pakistan, with 119,210 under the government scheme and 60,000 for private operators.

The government scheme offers both long (38-42 days) and short (20-25 days) packages, with estimated costs ranging from Rs1.15 to Rs1.25 million.
