Car sales rise 62% in August 2025

September 11, 2025 (MLN): The sales of cars, including LCVs, vans, and jeeps, in Pakistan increased by 61.5% in August 2025, clocking in at 14,050 units compared to 8,699 units recorded in the same month of last year, the latest data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) showed today.

Similarly, on a month-on-month basis, auto sales have increased by 27.3% compared to the 11,034 cars sold in July 2025.

Cumulatively, in 2MFY26, sales clocked in at 25,084 units, around 45.1% higher compared to 17,288 units sold in 2MFY26.

 Honda Cars

Company-wise, Honda Cars demonstrated remarkable resilience in the premium segment (1300cc and above), with production declining MoM from 1,169 units in July to 968 units in August (-17.2%).

However, sales performance was more concerning, dropping from 1,143 units to 699 units (-38.9%) MoM.

Cumulatively, Honda maintained a strong position with 2,137 units produced and 1,842 units sold in the first two months.

Suzuki Swift 

Suzuki Swift emerged as a standout performer, with production surging dramatically from 648 units in July to 1,591 units in August (+145.5% MoM).

Sales followed suit, increasing from 522 units to 1,473 units (+182.2% MoM). The cumulative figures show Swift with 2,239 units produced and 1,995 units sold.

Toyota 

Toyota, covering Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross models, remained the volume leader with August production at 2,614 units compared to 2,484 units in July (+5.2% MoM).

Sales reached 2,553 units in August versus 2,418 units in July (+5.6% MoM). Cumulatively, Toyota leads with 5,098 units produced and 4,971 units sold.

Hyundai 

Hyundai Sonata production increased from 210 units in July to 220 units in August (+4.8% MoM), while sales remained relatively stable at 145 units versus 141 units in the previous month.

Hyundai Elantra, however, saw production decline from 141 units to 85 units (-39.7% MoM).

1000cc segment

The 1000cc segment showed mixed results, with total production increasing from 209 units in July to 490 units in August (+134.4% MoM), primarily driven by Honda Cars' entry into this category.

Sales also improved from 264 units to 519 units (+96.6% MoM).

Jeeps & Pickups

The jeeps and pickups segment demonstrated stability with total production declining slightly from 4,214 units in July to 4,209 units in August (-0.1% MoM).

Toyota's Fortuner and IMV models led the segment with 1,198 units produced and 1,079 units sold in August.

ISUZU D-MAX maintained consistent performance with 1,192 units produced in August versus 1,198 units in July. However, several smaller players like JAC X-200 experienced production adjustments.

Commercial Trucks

The truck segment faced challenges with total production declining from 1,753 units in July to 1,130 units in August (-35.5% MoM).

Hino led the segment but saw production decrease from 724 units to 418 units (-42.3% MoM). Sales in this segment also contracted from 1,195 units to 996 units (-16.6% MoM).

Two-Wheelers

Honda motorcycles continued their market dominance with August production reaching 126,510 units compared to 104,451 units in July (+21.1% MoM).

Sales followed a similar trajectory at 126,529 units versus 104,579 units in July (+21.0% MoM). Cumulatively, Honda has produced 230,961 units and sold 231,108 units, demonstrating strong market demand.

Suzuki motorcycles showed robust growth with production increasing from 2,708 units in July to 2,849 units in August (+5.2% MoM).

Sales grew from 2,518 units to 2,608 units (+3.6% MoM). The cumulative figures show 5,557 units produced and 5,126 units sold.

Qingqi motorcycles demonstrated significant growth with production rising from 938 units in July to 1,070 units in August (+14.1% MoM). However, sales remained challenging at 861 units versus 630 units in July.

Three-Wheeler

United Auto three-wheelers showed strong performance with production increasing from 500 units in July to 420 units in August, though this represents a decline.

However, cumulative performance remained positive with 920 units produced and 1,211 units sold.

The total automotive industry produced 274,285 units cumulatively in the first two months, with sales reaching 272,601 units.

The month-on-month comparison shows production increasing from 125,870 units in July to 148,415 units in August (+17.9% MoM), primarily driven by the motorcycle segment.
