Aurangzeb to address launch of District Vulnerability Index in Islamabad

November 17, 2025 (MLN): Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs and Privatization, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, is set to speak shortly at the launch of the District Vulnerability Index for Pakistan (DVIP), an initiative aimed at strengthening data-driven climate resilience and development planning.

The event, organized by the Population Council Pakistan in collaboration with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), is being held today at the Marriott Hotel Islamabad.

According to a post by the Finance Division on X at 10:30 a.m., the minister will deliver remarks as the chief guest during the session.

The DVIP launch brings together policymakers, experts and development partners to assess district-level vulnerabilities across Pakistan, intending to inform targeted interventions in climate resilience, social protection, and sustainable development.

The agenda includes welcome addresses by Population Council Country Director Dr. Zeba Sathar and FCDO Development Director Sam Waldock, followed by presentations on the index’s methodology and findings.

A panel discussion featuring representatives from UNDP, Oxford Policy Management, the Ministry of Planning, and the Jinnah Institute is scheduled to highlight key insights and policy implications.

The event will conclude with a Q&A session before closing at 12:15 p.m.
