Yearly Inflation at 3.88 Percent in September

The PBS released the Inflation figures for September, following is the summary of their release.

  • CPI inflation General increased by 3.9% on year-on-year basis in September 2016 as compared to an increase of 3.6% in the previous month and 1.3% in September 2015. On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.2% in September 2016 as compared to a decrease of 0.3% in the previous month and a decrease of 0.1% in September 2015.
  • Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 4.8% on (YoY) basis in September 2016 as compared to increase of 4.6% in the previous month and 3.4% in September 2015. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.3% in September 2016 as compared to increase of 0.2% in previous month and an increase of 0.1% in September 2015.
  • Core inflation, measured by 20% weighted trimmed mean CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 3.7% on (YoY) basis in September 2016 as compared to 3.5% in the previous month and by 2.8% in September 2015. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.1% in September 2016 as compared to an increase of 0.1% in the previous month and 0.1% in September 2015.
  • SPI inflation on YoY increased by 1.8% in september 2016 as compared to an increase of 2.2% a month earlier and decrease of 1.3 % in September 2015. On MoM basis, it increased by 0.1% in September 2016 as compared to an increase of 0.2% a month earlier and an increase of 0.5% in September, 2015.
  • WPI inflation on YoY basis increased by 3.4% in september 2016 as compared to an increase of 3.5% a month earlier and a decrease of 3.5% in September 2015. WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 0.5% in September 2016 as compared to no change a month earlier and a decrease of 0.5% in september 2015.
