PSX Closing Bell: Riding High, Ending Low

July 18, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed Friday’s trading session at 138,597.36, down 68.13 points or 0.05%.

The index showed significant intraday movement, trading within a range of 2,241.66 points. It touched an all-time intraday high of 140,585.38 and a low of 138,343.72.

Earlier in the day, the market opened on a strong note, with the index reaching 140,117.83 in early trade. Total volume on the KSE-100 Index stood at 256.32 million shares.

135K serves as the first key support, underpinned by robust corporate earnings and steady foreign inflows, Ali Najib, Deputy Head of Trading at Arif Habib Limited told Mettis Global.

A breach may lead the index toward 132K, where attractive valuations and prospects of monetary easing could restore investor confidence and trigger renewed buying momentum, he added.

 

Of the 100 index companies 26 closed up, 73 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were AICL (-6.34%), SRVI (-5.90%), MEHT (-5.17%), KTML (-4.79%), and PIOC (-4.05%).

On the other hand, top gainers were PSEL (+10.00%), PABC (+8.30%), AGL (+5.02%), FFC (+4.13%), and PKGP (+2.70%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were SYS (-77.88pts), MEBL (-75.67pts), HUBC (-68.37pts), NBP (-66.51pts), and MARI (-66.45pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were FFC (+532.04pts), UBL (+245.79pts), ENGROH (+107.68pts), PSEL (+96.27pts), and PABC (+36.01pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-133.11pts), Technology & Communication (-122.11pts), Cement (-116.51pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-69.18pts), and Textile Composite (-68.18pts).

While the index was supported by Fertilizer (+591.10pts), Miscellaneous (+132.28pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+98.51pts), Close - End Mutual Fund (+1.42pts), and Transport (+1.20pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 85,286.15 with a net loss of 413.35 points or 0.48%.

Total market volume was 609.44 million shares compared to 780.01m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs31.62 billion showing a decrease of Rs8.35bn.

There were 337,626 trades reported in 477 companies with 119 closing up, 331 closing down, and 27 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 12,970 points or 10.32% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 23,470 points or 20.39% so far this calendar year.
