The PBS released the Inflation figures for January, following is the summary of their release.
CPI inflation, General increased by 3.3% on year-on-year basis in January 2016 as compared to an increase 3.2% in the previous month and 3.9% in January 2015. On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.2% in January 2016 as compared to decrease of 0.6% in the previous month and increase of 0.1% in January 2015.
Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 4.3% on (YoY) basis in January 2016 as compared to increase 4.1% in the previous month and 6.4% in January 2015. On (MoM) basis, it remained unchanged in January 2016 as compared to increase of 0.2% in the previous month and 0.7% in January 2015.
Core inflation, measured by 20% weighted trimmed mean CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 3.0% on (YoY) basis in January 2016 as compared to 2.7% in the previous month and by 4.8% in January 2015. On (MoM) basis, it remained unchanged in January 2016 as compared to increase of 0.2% in the previous month and 0.3% in January 2015.
SPI inflation on YoY increased by 3.1% in January 2016 as compared to increase of 2.9% a month earlier and an increase of 1.1% in January 2015. On MoM basis, it decreased by 0.7% in January 2016 as compared to a decrease of 0.7% a month earlier and decreases of 0.9% in January 2015.
WPI inflation on YoY basis increased by 0.1% in January 2016 as compared to decrease of 0.4% a month earlier and a decrease of 2.4% in January 2015. WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 0.5% in January 2016 as compared to decrease of 0.7% a month earlier and decrease of 1.0% in January 2015.
