Urea sale declines by 8.3% YoY in August as demand in Sindh and Punjab falls

September 23, 2020 (MLN): The overall urea offtake during the month of August 2020 was 573 thousand tonnes, depicting a decrease of 8.3 percent over August 2019.

Cumulative Urea offtake during Kharif 2020 (April-August) was about 2795 thousand tonnes, which increased by 6.8 percent as compared to the same timeframe of Kharif 2019.

Urea offtake during August, 2020 increased by 13 and 112 percent in KP and Balochistan respectively over the same month of last year. Similarly, its offtake decreased by 7 and 29 percent in Punjab and Sindh, respectively.

Total urea availability during August 2020 was about 890 thousand tonnes, which comprised 335 thousand tonnes of previous month leftover and 556 thousand tonnes domestic production. Urea offtake during August 2020 was 573 thousand tonnes, leaving a closing balance of 308 thousand tonnes for August, 2020.
