Tax benefits granted to non-filers withdrawn: Asad Umar

October 03, 2018 (MLN): Putting an end to the wave of conjecture regarding ban on non-filers’ purchase of cars and properties, Finance Minister Asad Umar has announced on the floor of National Assembly today, that the privilege given to the non-filers will be withdrawn.

According to Asad Umar, amendments have been made in the mini budget that was presented in the National Assembly last month.

As per these amendments, amongst the non-filers, only overseas Pakistanis will be allowed to buy new cars and properties, whereas in case of inherited properties, the beneficiary, for example a widow or a minor will also be allowed to avail the tax exemption, i.e. properties can be transferred to their name regardless of them being non-filers.

Apart from this, non-filers will be allowed to purchase vehicles with up to 200 CC engine.
