Sindh launches smart card for registration of motor-vehicle

Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has completed a project to issue motor-vehicle registration smartcard instead of motor-vehicle registration book.

The Director General of Excise and Taxation Muhammad Shabbir Shaikh said, the smartcards will be issued from first of next month and in first phase these will be issued to newly registered vehicles while in the second phase to old vehicles.

He said that motor-vehicle registration smartcard comprises of eight secret security features and it will be difficult to create its duplicate, Radio Pakistan reported.

The Director General said motor-vehicle registration smartcard has been differentiated in various colors for motorcycles, rickshaws and cars.

He further said that there is plan to include owner picture at smartcard in future.
