Shehbaz Sharif calls for action plan on PASSCO privatization

July 12, 2024 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a meeting today directed the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to prepare an action plan regarding the privatization of Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO).

He further ordered the Ministry to prepare the federal government's alternative strategy regarding the purchase of wheat after consultations with provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and other relevant institutions.

Additionally, the meeting approved the restructuring of the Wheat Board.

The Prime Minister said farmers' representatives as well as those of Land Information and Management System and SUPARCO should be included in the wheat board.
