Rs 12.3 billion collected in tax revenue: Mukesh Chawla

September 24, 2018 (MLN): Tax revenue worth Rs.12.3 billion has been generated during the two months of the current fiscal year, disclosed Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Chawla in a meeting held at his office.

Tax revenue collected during the first two months of prior fiscal year summed up to around Rs.10.4 billion, demonstrating an improvement of about 18%, year-on-year.

Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Aijaz Ahmed Mahessar, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers also attended the meeting.

Director General Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh informed the attendees of the meeting that Rs.1.8 billion was recovered from Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs.9.4 billion from Infrastructure Cess Tax, Rs.106.5 million from Professional tax, Rs.745.5 million from head of property tax, Rs.16 million from Entertainment Duty while the remaining amount was recovered in other taxes'.

While he voiced his contentment at the current state tax recovery, Mr. Chawla remained focused on his aim to achieve his long term target for the year. He asked the officers “to pay more concentration on tax recovery and ensure more than 100 % target as we did previous year.”
