PSX Closing Bell: You Need to Calm Down

February 21, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 112,800.93, showing a decrease of 938.22 points or 0.82%.

The index traded in a range of 1,630.14 points showing an intraday high of 114,444.01 (+704.86) and a low of 112,813.87 (-925.28) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 216.95 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 28 closed up, 67 closed down, while 5 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were CHCC (-7.45%), ABOT (-7.21%), PIOC (-5.35%), MLCF (-5.19%), and KOHC (-4.91%).

On the other hand, top gainers were SCBPL (+7.53%), TGL (+3.86%), KTML (+3.54%), GHGL (+3.21%), and TRG (+2.74%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were CHCC (-82.28pts), MCB (-80.91pts), ABOT (-55.50pts), BAHL (-52.10pts), and ENGROH (-51.68pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were LUCK (+76.02pts), SCBPL (+25.99pts), TRG (+19.48pts), TGL (+11.91pts), and SRVI (+10.68pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-326.81pts), Cement (-186.89pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-154.69pts), Pharmaceuticals (-67.18pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-61.69pts).

While the index was supported by Glass & Ceramics (+22.49pts), Leather & Tanneries (+10.68pts), Chemical (+7.45pts), Miscellaneous (+5.43pts), and Cable & Electrical Goods (+4.59pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,124.36 with a net loss of 351.33 points or 0.50%.

Total market volume was 455.39 million shares compared to 787.44m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs21.52 billion showing a decrease of Rs11.57bn.

There were 250,748 trades reported in 451 companies with 173 closing up, 219 closing down, and 59 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 34,356 points or 43.80% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 2,326 points or 2.02% so far this calendar year.
