PSX Closing Bell: Viva La Vida

February 24, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 114,330.10, showing an increase of 1,529.17 points or 1.36%.

The index traded in a range of 2,716.34 points showing an intraday high of 114,573.67 (+1,772.74) and a low of 111,857.33 (-943.60) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 214.10 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 56 closed up, 42 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were TGL (+9.77%), KTML (+8.50%), ABOT (+5.55%), MCB (+4.94%), and FATIMA (+4.54%).

On the other hand, top losers were AKBL (-7.59%), MEHT (-4.63%), HGFA (-4.10%), SHEL (-2.81%), and YOUW (-2.72%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+234.57pts), MCB (+180.56pts), OGDC (+159.82pts), PPL (+127.09pts), and UBL (+108.41pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were HBL (-72.87pts), AKBL (-46.93pts), NBP (-26.17pts), MEHT (-18.16pts), and MTL (-13.64pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Fertilizer (+307.64pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+303.42pts), Commercial Banks (+299.70pts), Cement (+197.61pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (+121.57pts).

While the index was let down by Automobile Assembler (-21.83pts), Chemical (-4.33pts), Close - End Mutual Fund (-3.53pts), Engineering (-2.84pts), and Sugar & Allied Industries (-2.63pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,858.17 with a net gain of 733.81 points or 1.05%.

Total market volume was 455.53 million shares compared to 455.39m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs25.89 billion showing an increase of Rs4.36bn.

There were 254,877 trades reported in 439 companies with 175 closing up, 211 closing down, and 53 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 35,885 points or 45.75% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 797 points or 0.69% so far this calendar year.
