PM extends petrol subsidy for motorcyclists

May 01, 2026 (MLN): In a move aimed at cushioning the impact of rising costs, Shehbaz Sharif has decided to continue relief measures for the country’s economically vulnerable segments.

The prime minister has approved a one-month extension of the subsidy previously granted to motorcyclists as well as public and goods transport operators, according to the statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Alongside this, he has directed authorities to halt any increase in fares for passenger and freight vehicles, ensuring that the burden is not passed on to the general public.

Emphasizing implementation, the premier called for strict monitoring of these relief measures so that the intended benefits reach deserving individuals without leakages.

He noted that, in collaboration with provincial governments, the federal administration has already rolled out a nationwide relief package worth billions of rupees to support citizens during difficult times.

Reaffirming the government’s stance, the prime minister stated that providing relief to the common man will remain a top priority, adding that people will not be left alone under any circumstances.

He also expressed hope that regional conditions improve soon, paving the way for stability in petroleum prices and easing pressure on households.
